Studio Workshops

As the making of art changes, so must conservation practice and techniques. Here at the studio we are constantly brushing up our skills, learning new approaches and discovering effective and innovative ways to conserve artwork for the future. In addition to the workshops, seminars and conferences we attend around the country, we host occasional workshops in our studio, attended by conservators from around the world. Contact us if you are interested in attending future events.

Previous workshops have included:

  • A three-day course on tear mending (theory and practice) led by Petra Demuth, who was invited to come over from Germany to work with conservators from as far away as America who joined us in the Studio.

  • A day's session on the new hot table we commissioned and installed, by Christina Young (Reader in Easel Painting Conservation and Conservation Science at the Courtauld, specialising in structural conservation treatment).

  • A half-day workshop on the use of Nanogels for cleaning artworks, led by Aurélia Chevalier, member of the NanoRestArt project. Conservators from around the country joined us for this workshop.
