Simon Gillespie Studio is a picture restoration and picture conservation studio located in the heart of the West End in Cleveland Street, London W1, just a few minutes from Piccadilly and St James'. The studio is within easy walking distance of Christie's, Sotheby's, Bonham's, the Royal Academy and many of the world's most prestigious galleries. As well as offering picture restoration and conservation, we offer advice on framing, hanging, lighting, and humidity control. We can organise shipping, insurance and security matters.
The founder, Simon Gillespie has over 25 years experience in picture restoration and has been based in the West End of London since 1992 due to it's proximity to the major art galleries, institutions and art galleries. These form the bedrock of the clientele at the studio with clients including the National Trust, English Heritage, the Imperial War Museum, Government art collections, large city corporations as well as private collections. This has seen Simon Gillespie becoming the first point of contact for museums without their own conservation departments. The studio's policy is to work within the international strictures of conservation, with all materials being easily reversible. During treatment, all work is as close to the artist's intention as possible, with retouching carried out with minimal intervention.
